“The utter chaos the exists within my mind would be quite frightening to most people” – Albert Einstein

Let me tell you about WHO I am. First and foremost, I’m a Husband to a wonderful wife; Dana and Father to a funny, smart and somewhat smartassed 8 year old; Brady. Second to them, I’m a HUGE sports fan that’s not afraid to express my opinions!  I’m a graduate of The Ohio State University, and aside from holding a Bachelors degree in Construction Sciences & Management, am about as loyal and rabid a Buckeye fan you’ll find West of the Mississippi.  Yeah, yeah…I’ve seen the last 2 National Championship games, and NO, I don’t think they’re (the Buckeyes) soft.  I’m also a graduate of The Ohio Center for Broadcasting and hold a degree in Television and Radio Broadcast Journalism.

The decision to study Broadcast Journalism stemmed from years of listening to Harry Caray, Keith Jackson, Brent Musburger, Chris Berman, Bob Costas, Gary Thorne, Vin Scully and countless other legends in the business as a kid. I can still remember, like it was yesterday Vin Scully’s call of Kirk Gibson’s homer in Game 1 of the 88′ World Series..”High Fly ball to Right, Sheeeeeeiiiiii’s Gone” and then the 67 seconds of silence.  I was 11 when that happened, yet it sticks with me and still gives me the chills.  Or Harry Caray’s calling of a Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace or Andre Dawson home run..”It might be…It could be…It is! A home Run, Holy Cow!”.

Some of Harry’s memorable calls!

I guess, in some way, some of those timeless calls and huge personalities have come to shape my mentality as a broadcaster and blog jornalist.  I believe that it’s my job to not only inform, but to educate and at the same time invoke some kind of emotion from those listening or reading. I originally had thoughts of becoming a play-by-play announcer, and then kind of settled in, after a sports radio stint in Colorado and voice tracking jobs in Indiana and Maine, to an AM Sports Radio announcer mentality.  I currently am, in my spare time, the PA Announcer for a Division II School (Regis University) here in Colorado, and I handle the Basketball, Baseball and Volleyball announcing duties.  I’m still looking for the right radio gig, and until that comes, this blog will be the perfect outlet for my desire to talk sports to and with all of you.

As mentioned before, I’m a big time sports fan.  I’m a sucker for drama, emotion and unbelievable storylines, so naturally, I’ve been attracted to and have enjoyed this love affair with sports since I was a child.  I enjoy watching games on TV and listening to them on the Radio.  To me however, nothing beats being there and experiencing the drama and emotion of sport in person.  I’ve seen a lot of great moments but there’s one that stands out above all others. And that was seeing Alex Tanguay score glove side high on Marty Brodeur and Ray Bourque finally lift the cup following Game 7 of the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals…simply amazing!

See for yourself…

I’m a big fan of most sports including, but not limited to, Collegiate and Professional Football, Collegiate and Professional Hockey, Baseball, Volleyball and Basketball. Simply put, if you want to talk about Cricket, Soccer…er…Futbol, Field Hockey or Curling, I’m probably not your guy. Nothing against those sports, they just don’t get me going.  I like the so called “meat and potato sports”!  I like the sports that we as American’s really love and cherish, and that’s what I’ll be talking.  There was, as I remeber, one thing that brought us all back after the attacks of 9/11, it was Football, it was Baseball. It was Sport. And yes, even Saturday Night Live helped us all get back, by showing us that we could laugh again. So in my mind, Sports isn’t just about who wins or looses, it’s about the emotion, drama, pride and stories it produces.

Really, I do this for me and my sanity, I can’t lie. However, if even one person listens or reads and they feel something, I’ve done something good! My hope and goal is that I can share my love of sports with all of you and that one of you will share yours with me.

Thanks for reading, and get ready….
